Really boils down to billable procedures imo. When we do what we do now the physician receives the income vs the department.

If an RT has the education and training then it's more likely that the department will receive the income generated. It's extremely new so there's no one with the credential yet. New ground really along with all the hospital committee arguments that'll come along with it.Since we most commonly work under the pulmonologist I would assume getting this position into the hospital would require a good working relationship with that doctor.

The Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) program is designed for Registered Nurses who have earned a bachelor’s degree and seek to take the next step in their careers and become Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). To become a CRNA, students are required to earn a minimum of a master’s degree from a program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA), and after graduation, must pass the National Certification Exam (NCE) administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

Programs

The MS in Nurse Anesthesia program at Keiser University is accredited by COA and consists of a 72-credit hour, 28-month program divided into two stages: the Didactic Stage, which is the first 12 months of the program, provides the foundation in Nurse Anesthesia prior to students entering the Clinical Stage of the program, which lasts the final 16 months. Graduates of this program, who become Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, are eligible to continue their education in the completion degree program.

Website Statement for Master’s Programs that Plan to Transition to the Doctoral DegreeThe Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) requires that all students matriculating into a nurse anesthesia educational program on January 1, 2022 or thereafter be enrolled in a program approved by the COA to award a practice doctoral degree. The program plans to submit its application to the COA for approval to award the Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice entry-level degree in May 2019.

Pending approval by the COA, the program plans to enroll its first doctoral cohort of students in August 2020.
